“My work experiences have been a mixed bag, within the community sector.
Originally, I started off here in Mullumbimby, where I sat for my H.S.C, then left for Sydney and started studying Child Care,in the late 70’s.
I discovered I was fascinated with studying and working with children with disabilities. I worked as a Play Therapist in Private Hospitals, Recreational Playgrounds, Vacational Care Centres,Respite Carer, Integration Programs in Child Care centres. I have set up and co-ordinated an Integrated Before and After School Care Service.
I had also been lucky to study, Train the Trainer, and had the opportunity to teach other staff in this field of work. Once again, I found something else I loved, sharing my experiences with others.
In 1998, I left the Sydney rat race and moved to a quiet, South Coast area,(a sort of an early retirement) to take up one of my other passions- Felting.
I eventually missed the social network working brings you, so I started work in the local Aged Care Facility. Soon I was training again and working shift work, run off my feet once again!….but loving it.
So here I am back on my family farm, working in Special Needs, part time and Tutoring Aged Care….still enjoying my favourite things.”
