Improve the health and well being of others through the techniques of massage therapy. As a qualified massage therapist you will join the alternative health industry in providing complimentary health solutions. At Diploma level, you will have the expertise to provide and supervise the treatment of clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care and aged care.
The Certificate IV and Diploma in Massage Therapy delivered by Byron College is recognised by AMT, the Australian Association of Massage Therapists. AMT is the oldest Association in Australia to represent massage therapy and is the premier representative body for professional therapists. As a student of Byron College you receive free student membership to this peak professional organization.
Massage Therapists are currently being employed in:
- the health and fitness industry in clinics, sports clubs and gymnasiums
- the recreation and tourism industry in major hotels, health resorts and retreats
- the medical and paramedical industry in medical centres, with osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists and in rehabilitation centres
- the sports industry, by sporting teams, clubs and individual athletes.
A high proportion of Massage Therapists are self-employed, operating their own clinics/businesses. A Massage Therapist requires theoretical knowledge of the structure and function of the body and practical training in applied massage therapy techniques. Study at Byron College provides high quality theoretical and technical techniques with highly experienced and qualified teachers who are successful therapistis and chiropractors.
