Byron Community College is actively committed to advancing Indigenous participation in Education and to supporting Indigenous Cultural Awareness.
The College employs Indigenous people, applies for Government funds to offer special programs and scholarship and works in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to address the significant gap between Indigenous and non-indigenous Australians in health, education and socio-economic outcomes. Byron Community College has offered and continues to offer free places (by application) in accredited courses to Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples in Certificate courses.
Each year Byron Region Community College applies to the NSW Department of Education and Training for funding to offer these scholarships places. Each year the Certificate places vary, so we invite Indigenous Australians to contact our head office for further information.
Previous qualification places have been offered in Children’s Services, Aged Care, Media, Fitness, Visual Arts, Community Services and Horticulture.
