Immerse yourself in a dynamic learning experience, spending time in both the classroom and our lush 1-acre site at Mullumbimby Community Gardens. Gain practical experience in troubleshooting irrigation systems, controlling pests, and maintaining nursery plants. This entry-level qualification opens doors to diverse roles, from Horticulturalist to Nursery Worker and Parks and Gardens Worker.

Course Duration & Hours

  • Assessments will be completed in an online format
  • Rolling enrolments – Intake dates: TBC
  • 2 days of face-to-face onsite learning per week, 9:00am – 3:30pm, Thursday & Friday
  • 1 day unstructured at home study per week, 9:00am – 3:30pm
  • Delivery location: Mullumbimby Campus & Mullumbimby Community Gardens

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

Admission / Desirable Requirements
It is strongly recommended that learners can work physically in a range of outdoor conditions (sun, rain, wind) for extended periods of time.  It is also strongly recommended that learners can squat, kneel, bend, lift and carry loads, dig, shovel and weed.  
Learners unable to physically complete assessments to a satisfactory standard, due to any limitations on their ability to meet the inherent requirements of the course, may only receive a Statement of Attendance for their participation. 
It is essential that learners have access to a desktop or laptop computer, and internet whilst studying with the College, as assessments will be completed online.

Course Fees
This course is being offered as a subsidised course to eligible students under the Smart and Skilled program. Below are subsidised student fees, prices may vary slightly depending on if you hold a prior qualification or are applying for credit transfer.

There are 4 Smart and Skilled student fee levels based on your eligibility:
  • Smart and Skilled Fee-Free – $0
  • Smart and Skilled Fee (Concession) - $240
  • Smart and Skilled Fee (No Prior Qualification) – $2,190
  • Smart and Skilled Fee (2nd Qualification) - $2,620
     
To be eligible for Smart and Skilled government subsidised training, you must:
Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen; and
Live or work in New South Wales; and
Be aged 15 years or older; and
No longer be at school or equivalent; and
Provide the College with your USI at the time of enrolment (admin staff can assist you in obtaining a USI

Payment Plan
Course fees are paid in instalments scheduled throughout the duration of the course. Fee schedules for individual courses are outlined on the enrolment paperwork available through the college administration team.

Student Policies and Procedures

USI
From the 1st of January 2015, any student enrolling in an Accredited Training course will be required to obtain a USI. The USI helps to keep your training records and results together in an online account which is controlled by you. You can logon to the USI website here and follow the simple instructions online to create your USI. This then needs to be provided to the College at the time of enrolment.
