Coronavirus COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Information

Byron Community College is open and face to face classes will return in Term 3.

As always, the health and safety of our students, staff and the wider community are important to Byron Community College and we will continue to follow the latest NSW Government guidelines in relation to curbing the spread of COVID-19.

What Byron Community College will do

  • Promote social distancing, good hygiene and frequent handwashing
  • Provide hand washing facilities that are clearly sign posted and display public health reminders about hand washing method. Hand sanitiser will be in every classroom
  • All classrooms will be set for the maximum number of adults permitted at any time based on 4 square metres per person, with desks and/or seating positioned for a social distance of 1.5metres
  • Enhancement of cleaning protocols particularly all high contact areas such as doors, handles, kitchen and toilet surfaces and lifts – will be cleaned regularly and with appropriate strength cleaning agents in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Toilets will be well stocked with hand soap and paper towels, cleaned and disinfected regularly

What we require students to do

  • Do not attend if you are feeling unwell or experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms
  • Do not attend if you have come into contact with a known case of COVID-19
  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene compliant with signage at the College, including strict hand and cough hygiene
  • Maintain required social distance of 1.5 metres in all classrooms and common areas
  • While on site or in class, take full direction from your tutor or other staff member
  • Bring own food and drinks including mugs, cutlery, crockery etc if required including water bottles

Enrolment conditions (COVID-19)

The College may at any point, as a result of change in health and safety conditions, postpone, reschedule or cancel a class.

If we postpone, reschedule or cancel a class, you will have the opportunity to re-enrol in another class

If you are not able to attend another class due to the change a credit will be offered

If you are unable to attend because you have possible COVID-19 symptoms, or have had contact with a known case of COVID-19, you will receive a full credit

Requests for full or partial refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis
