Do you live near a creek or stream that looks in poor shape? Are you interested in caring for our water places?

Sadly, many of our beautiful creeks and rivers are seriously degraded through development and historic land use practices. In this short course you will learn how to determine the quality of your waterway and gain knowledge and experience in the steps to fix it; in the process restoring aquatic plant and animal life, drawing down some carbon and healing the planet. Prepare to get your boots muddy!

What you will learn:

  • How to to monitor and improve the quality of our waterway

Entry Requirements

  • No previous experience or knowledge is required. Learners must not have successfully completed more than one unit of competency attached to this course.

Course Duration & Hours

  • 5 week duration
  • One day of classroom (Fridays) 10:00am – 4:00pm per week
  • Delivery location: Byron Campus and West Byron STP Wetlands

Course Fees

Course Fees are fully subsidised for eligible students, a resource fee applies to all enrolments.

  • Subsidised Fee: $0 (plus resource fee of $80)
  • Full Fee: $200 (plus resource fee of $80)

From the 1st of January 2015, any student enrolling in an Accredited Training course will be required to obtain a USI. The USI helps to keep your training records and results together in an online account which is controlled by you. You can logon to the USI website and follow the simple instructions online to create your USI. This then needs to be provided to the College at the time of enrolment.

Important Information

Once your enrolment is completed you will receive a confirmation email. This email will be your receipt and inform you of the dates, time and venue of your course, it will also let you know of anything you need to take to class with you. Please make sure that you give us a valid email address and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via sms or email.
