A career in massage therapy can be incredibly rewarding and provides you with the flexibility to create your own working conditions. This nationally recognised training is the entry level qualification into the massage industry.
You will learn how to:
- Assess a clients massage needs
- Provide a range of therapeutic massage treatments in a wide range of settings (i.e. pregnancy, sports and seated/corporate/events massage)
- Provide reflexology for relaxation
- Undertake small business planning to run your own massage practice
- Reflect on and improve own professional practice
- Manage legal and ethical compliance
- Manage work health and safety
- Establish and manage client relationships
- Provide first aid
- Understand the human body through anatomy and physiology.
- Improve the movement, circulation, mental and emotional wellbeing of those you treat
You will be guided by our highly skilled and industry current trainers who will help you develop the personal and professional skills which are required to work as a qualified relaxation massage therapist.
Students will run an in-house clinic practice from week 11, where valuable experience is gained practicing on a variety of clients.
Massage therapists at this level are able to work in a wide range of settings, such as: private massage practice, spa/salon industries and aged or palliative care facilities.
This course is accredited for approval for membership to the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS)
This course is being offered as a subsidised course to eligible students under the Smart and Skilled program. Applications for these subsidised places are limited so a funded place cannot be guaranteed.

Admission / Desirable Requirements
When studying with Byron Community College, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to ensure you have the pre-existing knowledge and skills required to complete your qualification. This course involves reading and undertaking a range of written assessments. Course Duration & Hours
- 30 week duration
- Classes are delivered face to face
- Two days of classroom learning: 9:00am – 4:00pm per week
( One day of directed home study per week
- One day private study / research per week
- 80 hours of clinic work (one day per week (5 hours) from week 11 onwards)
- Delivery location: Byron Campus
- Classes will not be held during NSW school holidays
- Full time workload would be 28 hours per week for 30 weeks

- Smart and Skilled Fee (No Prior Qualification): $1,990
- Smart and Skilled Fee (2nd Qualification): $2,320

Payment Plan

USI
From the 1st of January 2015, any student enrolling in an Accredited Training course will be required to obtain a USI. The USI helps to keep your training records and results together in an online account which is controlled by you. You can logon to the USI website and follow the simple instructions online to create your USI. This then needs to be provided to the College at the time of enrolment.
Important Information
Once your enrolment is completed you will receive a confirmation email. This email will be your receipt and inform you of the dates, time and venue of your course, it will also let you know of anything you need to take to class with you. Please make sure that you give us a valid email address and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via sms or email.
