Law for Social Enterprise will teach you the basics of the law from start up to wind up. Using case studies based on NGOs, arts orgs and charities we cover structuring, constitutions, governance, fundraising, risk management and tax. The course is designed for practitioners committed to working in social enterprise.

Topics for the 8 week course include:
1. Getting Started – choosing your structure, incorporation, licensing
2. Running your organisation – constitutions, board meetings, general meetings
3. Your people / stakeholders – clients / customers, staff, members, community
4. Fundraising and advertising – raising money, generating business, events and IP
5. The basics of business – business plans, human resources, financial and other reporting
6. Risk and tax – business risks, risk management, tax liabilities
7. External factors – reporting to government, agreements with other organisations
8. Ending / changing your organisation – winding up or changing into a new type of legal entity.
