This short course will focus on observational drawing, the principles of design for successful composition and basic colour theory.
A perfect introduction for those with no previous art training or for those who want to brush up on old skills. This course, held in the wonderful Laneway studio, will provide individual attention to support your creative thinking and engagement with contemporary art practice.

This training is subsidised by the NSW government.

Entry Requirements

  • No previous experience or knowledge is required

Course Duration & Hours

  • 7 weeks duration
  • One day of classroom (Friday) 9:30am – 3:30pm per week
  • Delivery location: Laneway Studio, Mullumbimby Campus

Course Fees

Course Fees are fully subsidised for eligible students, a resource fee applies to all enrolments.

  • Subsidised Fee: Fee Free! (plus resource fee of $125) This fee applies to anyone who lives or works in NSW
  • Full Fee: $375 (plus resource fee of $125)

What to bring

  • Pen and paper
  • Any mixed media you have including graphite pencils, charcoal, inks, and a pad of A2 cartridge paper.
  • Own lunch and refreshments
  • Enthusiasm!


From the 1st of January 2015, any student enrolling in an Accredited Training course will be required to obtain a USI. The USI helps to keep your training records and results together in an online account which is controlled by you. You can logon to the USI website and follow the simple instructions online to create your USI. This then needs to be provided to the College at the time of enrolment.

Important Information

Once your enrolment is completed you will receive a confirmation email. This email will be your receipt and inform you of the dates, time and venue of your course, it will also let you know of anything you need to take to class with you. Please make sure that you give us a valid email address and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via sms or email.
